As the country workers of the deep south migrated to work in the ever expanding factories further north, they took their blues music with them and, along the way, the music took on a harder edge as they became city dwellers…urban blues was born.

Since then, the blues has continued to evolve and modern bluesmen have taken the music to a higher level while still respecting the feelings and traditions of their predecessors with the result that there has never been so much interest in this art form as there is today.

Welcome to a new five piece blues band which is setting out to play both standard and contemporary material, adhering to blues traditions both old and new. With two lead guitars, bass guitar, drums and both male and female vocalists, they produce a full sound on a varied and interesting repertoire which blends traditional and current songs.

As a band, Urban Blues respects the traditional blues whilst bringing the output of contemporary blues players to a wider audience. We believe that 'The Blues' is a label that can be applied to many songs by dint of the emotions they engender or the stories they tell.

For this reason we also perform material from other genres which we feel merit inclusion in 'The Blues Catalogue' (genres such as Gospel, Country, Jazz, R'n'B, Soul and blues-based rock) in an entertaining and lively way.

But in every song the driving force is....... The Blues.
